Nicola Blackmore - People Untapped

Work history

Nicola has worked in a variety of L&D roles from training officer in an airport hotel to Head of Development & Retention in a national gym chain. Most of her experience has been in the sales and service sectors (retail, hospitality, leisure & travel). She is an experienced training designer and facilitator in both face to face and virtual training, with experience in e-learning design and implementation as well.  She has lead training teams and has also worked in remote stand-alone roles.

Nicola has been responsible for every element of training from induction & onboarding to succession/talent management including the scoping, design, stakeholder engagement, implementation and review of each area.

Before moving into L&D roles, Nicola was in operational roles in the hotel & leisure industry, working in all departments up to department manager.  Nicola became a full-time consultant in January 2017, after building up a client base alongside her employed work for a few years.  She is a Licenced Practitioner in Insights Discovery which she uses extensively for individual and team development and is a qualified coach.

Consulting, coaching and facilitation approach

Nicola’s aim as a trainer and facilitator is to deliver engaging, discussion led, experiences that focus on each learner gaining what they need to develop. She encourages delegates to share stories, ideas and experiences to help learn from each other and often bases the training around models or science that adds some structure and clarity, to inspire the discussion and some self-analysis and reflection.

Nicola is always well prepared and has a clear structure for training sessions but is flexible to the needs of the group and is very capable of thinking on her feet and changing the flow of the session to ensure the right outcome is reached.
