Work history

John-Paul (J-P) is an energetic and innovative individual, who has worked for 10 years in private industry, becoming Head of Operations and Sales and Marketing Manager at an Outdoor Development Company in South Wales.

He has worked for 12 years in the education/public sector at The Cornwall College Group, the 2nd largest College in the UK. Whilst there, he was Head of Learning and Development and then Head of Quality, plus a member of the Corporation Board for a total of a 6-year tenure.

For the last 15 years J-P has a proven track record in developing and delivering high quality training as an executive coach, trainer and facilitator with Regional and UK Companies (The MOD, Royal Mail, the Environment Agency, Finisterre, Sir Robert McAlpine, NHS, Intellectual Property Office) and Global Companies (Tetrapak, Visa, The Daily Mail Group, Swiss Re).  He delivers a wide range of programmes, working at Board level and with Senior Leaders to front line managers; from 1 to 1 coaching to groups of about 200 delegates for 2 days.

John-Paul is also the Co-Founder of a successful Adventure Tourism business, who deliver high quality guided trips and instructor courses in Cornwall. He is highly orientated towards sports performance and is a British Canoeing National Trainer in the disciplines of Stand-Up Paddleboard, Sea Kayak and Surf. He has achieved significant success in a number of outdoor activities, including sailing across the Atlantic, competing at the highest levels in kayaking and was the first person to circumnavigate 66 miles around Barbados none stop in a two-man kayak.

Consulting, coaching and facilitation approach

J-P’s coaching style is pacy, challenging, stretching and action orientated, enabling both a sense of success and self-belief in those around him.  He believes in working towards tangible outcomes that work in the real world.

When required, J-P challenges perceptions in a positive way. J-P finds his coaching style resonates well with those that are more logical and pragmatic and who want to be stretched whilst smiling.

John-Paul’s training and facilitation style is pacy, punchy, upbeat and high energy, keeping focused on what needs to be covered in the session whilst supporting those in the room to achieve their best. Exploration through facilitated group discussion is an important feature of his delivery, with the goal of getting the answers from the group rather than pushing the information himself.

Where possible, John-Paul likes to get the group to work together and have some fun whilst learning.
