Colin has worked across a range of industries in a series of HR and Learning roles. He has extensive experience in the Oil and Gas industry with BP in HR and L&D, with Ernst & Young Management Consulting as Head of L&D, the BBC’s College of Leadership as a Senior Programme Manager and with ACE insurance (now Chubb) as a Project Stream Lead for Training and Competence.
Colin has worked for over 20 years as an independent Learning & Development Consultant, designing, and delivering team interventions and leadership and management training across a range of sectors and countries. He has worked in the Far-East, Middle East, Eastern and Western Europe, US and the UK, with private and public sector organisations in oil and gas, banking and finance, insurance, manufacturing, government, professional services, construction, retail, and media broadcasting.
His coaching clients have been at all levels, from new manager to director and have come from universities, education and public sector, health, tech companies, industry membership bodies, and financial businesses.
For individual coaching Colin’s style is outcome-focused, with concentration on motivation to act and overcoming personal barriers. His training in CBT therapy techniques means he is able to support clients who are anxious about the future, stressed about what is currently happening in their role, or have to deal with difficult conversations.
Colin’s training style is often described by participants as relaxed, supportive and knowledgeable. He aims to help people discover new talents through exposure to stimulating exercises, providing accurate and supportive feedback, and encouraging exploration of boundaries.
For teams, his approach is to provide helpful insights into how the team works, to celebrate the strengths of the team, and to enable all members to have a voice in creating new ways of working.
